AFRICAN WELFARE ORGANISATION (AWO)
Madagascar
Madagascar is related to two Taabei who arrived from the Comoros islands (100% Muslims) and thus, Islam spread through their students and thanks to their efforts Islam reached 65% of the population. Madagascar was known as Madinatul Asgar (small Madina).
A survey was carried out in 1988 and the result was sadly only 2% of the population were Muslims. It was shocking!
Several groups of Muslims from different parts of the world, including the founder of AWO, visited Madagascar to motivate these people towards Islam. Some of them remember that their ancestors were Muslims. Through their efforts, over the last 40 years, Muslim population has now grown to 10%, Alhamdoulillah.
AWO, located in Mauritius, is one of the largest non-governmental organizations; since 1988, we have been working on the big neighboring island with our main goal is to spread Islam, inshaa Allah bring our lost brothers and sisters back to Islam and support them financially and educationally.
AWO runs a Dar-ul-Uloom for boys located in Diego Suarez in the north of the country and is responsible for 250 Makhatab with over 10,000 students (boys and girls) across the country
AWO does regular work to alleviate the suffering of Muslims burgened by misery in the busy of Madagascar. We do our best to give them the essential teachings of Islam. We thank you for your regular support.
